Cydonia: Chapter Eight: The Altars of Mars

The Edfu texts recorded that the previous world of the gods had been destroyed by water. They further explained that "sacred mounds" constructed in the "holy places" would make possible the re-creation of [798] the age that was destroyed, and bring about the resurrection of the age of the gods. Ancient cities, temples, and mounds have been constructed along the grid system of the heaven to earth alignment. Mounds in particular have an association with the Ouroboros as it encircled the earth at the cataclysmic shifting of the aion. A mound commemorates the original time of the cataclysm--when the earth was encircled by the great ocean of stars, and Sagittarius the Cydonian Archer (Nergal or Mars) pointed his arrow at the mouth of the Ouroboros as the sun rose during the sign of the suntelia. The kingdom of Atlantis as set up by Poseidon--the embodiment of the Ouroboros cosmic clock-- was described by Plato as a Mound in the center of a ring of Ocean: There he begat children whose mother was a mortal. Towards the sea and in the centre of the island there was a very fair and fertile plain, and near the centre, about fifty stadia from the plain, there was a low mountain in which dwelt a man named Evenor and his wife Leucippe, and their daughter Cleito, of whom Poseidon became enamored. He to secure his love enclosed the mountain with rings or zones varying in size, two of land and three of sea, which his divine power readily enabled him to excavate and fashion, [the shape fashioned by Poseidon is a duplicate on land of the Milky Way- Ouroboros ringing the mound of earth during the suntelia] and, as there was no shipping in those days, no man could get into the place. To the interior island he conveyed under the earth springs of water hot and cold, and supplied the land with all things needed for the life of man. Here he begat a family consisting of five pairs of twin male children. The eldest was Atlas, and him he made king of the center island, while to his twin brother, Eumelus, or Gadeirus, he assigned that part of the country which was nearest the Straits. The other brothers he made chiefs over the rest of the island. And their kingdom extended as far as Egypt and Tyrrhenia. (Republic) Poseidon's kingdom of Atlantis was constructed as a symbolic reference to the time of origins, when the Milky Way "ocean of stars" rings the "mound" of earth. A mound encircled by water commemorates the cataclysmic transition of the aion. In England barrows (artificial hills) are found in vast numbers. A recent estimate puts the number at around 40,000 and, because of the great age of the structures, may be but a fraction of the total number originally constructed. Round Barrows are the most common form of mound on the British landscape. Of these mound forms the bowl barrow is the most common type found in the area, so called because of their inverted bowl shape. There are a number of styles of barrows designated in Britain: the bermed, bell, disc, and saucer shaped, among others. The common factor among them all is that a ditch usually [799] surrounds these mounds. Mounds with peripheral ditches are found in Northern America as well. During times of prolonged rain, the grooves around the artificial mounds fill with water. The mounds varied greatly in size, built in vast numbers for a mysterious purpose, throughout the Midwest. Many were destroyed by the spread of [800] settlement and and the expansion of farmland. The original design for these structures can be found in the ancient writings of the Hebrews. The description of the building of a mound with a ditch surrounding it is described in the story of Elijah in his contest between the God of Israel and the god of the Sidonians, Baal. And Elijah took twelve stones, according to the number of the tribes of the sons of Jacob, … And with the stones he built an altar in the name of the LORD: and he made a trench about the altar, as great as would contain two measures of seed. And he put the wood in order, and cut the bullock in pieces, and laid [him] on the wood, and said, Fill four barrels with water, and pour [it] on the burnt sacrifice, and on the wood. And he said, Do [it] the second time. And they did [it] the second time. And he said, Do [it] the third time. And they did [it] the third time. And the water ran round about the altar; and he filled the trench also with water. (1 Kings 18:31-35) Then the fire of the LORD fell, and consumed the burnt sacrifice, and the wood, and the stones, and the dust, and licked up the water that [was] in the trench. And when all the people saw [it], they fell on their faces: and they said, The LORD, he [is] the God; the LORD, he [is] the God. (1 Kings 18:38-39) [801] The altar of Elijah was designed after the specifications commanded by God in Exodus 20: 24: You shall make an altar of earth (Hebrew, mizbeach) for Me, and you shall sacrifice your burnt offerings and your peace offerings on it, your sheep and your cattle. In every place in which I cause My name to be remembered, I will come to you and bless you. And if you make an altar of stone for Me, you shall not build them of cut stones. When you swing your tool on it, you defile it. After Israel entered Canaan, God designated the areas where each tribe of Israel was to settle. The Israelite tribes of Rueben, Gad, and the half tribe of Manassah while in Canaan, built a huge earthen monument, "an altar of grand appearance" (Joshua 22:9). Like the surviving "pillar" spoken of by Josephus, the purpose of an altar was to provide witness to future generations, to commemorate an occasion. Let us now prepare an altar (mizbeach) not for burnt offerings and not for sacrifice, but it shall be a witness between us and you, and between our generations after us…and to our generations here after, we shall say, See the pattern of the altar of Yehovah, which our fathers made… it is a witness between us and you. The name of the altar of Reuben and Gad also provides a clue for its representation of the Aion. And the children of Reuben and the children of Gad called the altar Ed for it shall be a witness between us that the LORD is God. (Joshua 22:34) The definition of the Hebrew word Ed or Uod, describes the representation of the Ourorborol alignment surrounding the earth--a mound within a circular ditch. An Uod means, "to surround, go round [802] and round, to be restored, to bear witness, say again and again, to protest, give warning." The Monuments on Mars In 1976 NASA launched four Viking spacecraft to the planet Mars. At 41degrees north latitude in the Martian location significantly named Cydonia, the Viking orbiter cameras revealed a large hill resembling a human face 1.5 miles long, 1,500 feet high and 1.2 miles wide. At first dismissed by NASA [803] as a "trick of light" the feature was again imaged, this time with a different sun angle 35 days later. Many researchers have concluded from the Viking images that this was an artificially constructed building intended to symbolize a "face" staring up from the surface of Mars. Adding to the likelihood that the anomalies on Mars were artificially constructed, geometrically regular "pyramidal" objects appeared in images to the west of the "face," as well as a 500 foot "mound" construct with a peripheral groove or [804] "ditch" and spiral pathway. For the last 25 years, researcher Richard C. Hoagland has advocated strongly for the case of artificiality of the Cydonia complex. Hoagland chronicled his data in his book, The Monuments of Mars, examining the scientific evidence that might eventually prove that the Cydonia monuments are artificial. Speculation concerning this topic--are there monuments on Mars and if so, who constructed them and why--has continued unabated since the first discoveries were made. The identity of the intelligent beings who constructed monuments on Mars is not difficult to determine, if monuments are proven to exist. Concerning this controversial topic, however, it is necessary to consider that NASA has allowed pictures seeming to show structures recognizable as a "face" and a "pentagonal pyramid" to become matters of public speculation. If NASA had not wanted the public to wonder whether there existed monuments on Mars, it would not have released photos which could be misinterpreted in that way in the first place. It is quite possible that the photos were intentionally and misleadingly released to the public. A pentagon, after all, is the quintessential symbol of the Mystery Schools of Isis, used for millennia by brothers to recognize each other, and to convey hidden messages decipherable only among their fellow initiates. The artificial monuments on Mars bare the symbolic thumbprint of the mystery schools. The earliest myths speak of the creation of "holy places" across the globe designated by the goddess of wisdom. This is verified by the discovery of megalithic structures on earth mirroring the heavens, anchored at points of longitude that form a pentagram, the Egyptian symbol of Isis. Even if the remains of the megalithic sites on earth were nothing but anomalous mounds of boulders, their geometric relationship one to another around the globe would demonstrate an intelligence behind the design. If researchers were looking for a "lost city" in satellite images taken high over desolate areas of the earth, they would first look for geometric shapes and patterns that do not occur naturally. Exactly such patterns were discovered in Cydonia. Of all the evocative symbols one could expect to find made by a seemingly "alien" race, to find a Giza-like pyramid and a Giza-like sphinx on Mars is most baffling. Hoagland has suggested that the beings that constructed these symbolic monuments were not "alien" but were actually the progenitors of the human race--they were proto- humans. The evidence does indeed suggest that the monuments were not constructed by beings totally "alien" to the human race. An alternative identity, however, has been posited within this book from the beginning. The religion of the mystery schools was set up by the ancient Pelasgians who pre-dated the moon, who worshipped fallen builder- gods who knew magic, moved massive stones in mysterious ways, and mirrored the heavens with architectural constructs upon the ground. The ancient builder-gods who fell to the earth from some fiery place of origin in the heavens were at work building on the planet Mars before the race of Adam existed on earth. Since the Giza complex of pyramids--from puramos "mounds of Mars"--graces the horizon of Cairo, El Kahir, the "City of Mars," it is appropriately dualistic that a city of pyramids has been portrayed as existing on the face of Mars. In the theurgic religion of the philosophers, the redundancy of myths and ceremonies invoking Mars and his symbols was intended to "bring down" the daimones --literal intelligent non-human beings that they knew existed--from their place of origin, the realm of Mars. Like the monumental feline depicted at Puma Punku, and the famous Sphinx of the Giza complex (mirror on earth of Osiris-Mars), the face on the surface of Cydonia Mars conveyed a knowledge of the zodiacal connection between Leo and Virgo--the pre-Flood time of the descent of the gods to the earth. The hybrid nature of the Martian sphinx, exhibiting lion and hominid characteristics, was discovered by Richard Hoagland in 1976 and discussed in his book Monuments of Mars. Many earth megalithic sites are oriented to the cardinal directions. The Great Pyramid of Giza was aligned so accurately with true north that until the advent of space travel, man had not established a greater degree of accuracy. The face on Cydonia, was once on the Martian equator aligned upright to the north, but presently is located at 41° north latitude, tilted from upright (north-oriented) by an angle of 22°. Some cataclysmic event has occurred since the building of the Cydonia monuments on Mars, which [805] destroyed Martian oceans and the atmosphere, and also tilted its axis of rotation. Evidence of an ocean shoreline exists on the cratered plain of Cydonia, near the city-like complex of pyramidal structures. Erosion deposits characteristic of massive flooding are evident throughout the Cydonia landscape. The monuments appear surrounded or partially covered with sediment and severely worn due to action by water. If there are monuments on Mars, they have survived a massive cataclysm, and were perhaps built in order to withstand that cataclysm, as a witness to future generations. Images of the area southwest of the Cydonia "sphinx-face" show an immense five- sided pyramid. [806] This incredible pentagonal mountain has geometrically precise angles and what appears to be reinforced or buttressed edges. This amazing feature was discovered by two computer scientists, Vincent [807] DiPietro and Gregory Molenaar in 1982 and was dubbed by Hoagland, "The D&M pyramid." The base of the giant pentagon is over a mile by 1.6 of a mile wide. The Martian Pentagon is 7 times wider [808] than the Great Pyramid of Giza, (751 feet at its base). Apart from the concept that these monuments might very well be artificial there is a more incredible prospect. Perhaps one of the primary reasons for construction of the Martian monuments may have been as a message for earth. Far north of Algeria on the Prime Meridian there are prominent megalithic structures representing the mystery of the heaven to earth connection. They are also the closest architectural representation on earth of the monuments on Cydonia Mars. In the mound-dotted landscape of England, 1.51degrees west of the Prime Meridian there is a huge earthwork ditch about a quarter of a mile in diameter, the Avebury Circle. The Avebury Circle is the largest henge in Britain, covering an area of about 28 acres, and was originally about 30 feet deep. It is estimated that approximately four million cubic feet of material was excavated to create the giant circle, [809] which is supposed to have been originally constructed in 2,600 B.C. At the center of the southern circle stood a tall stone over 20 feet in length called "the obelisk," which is now missing. Millions of tons of earth had to be moved to create Avebury's bank and ditch (the [810] henge). The standing stones of Avebury form, by far, the largest of Britain's stone circles, with a diameter of nearly three-fourths of a mile. In addition, it is the only circle with a town inside it. Many of the stones that used to stand are missing. There are many other structures in the immediate area such as ley lines, dolmens, quoits, barrows, altars, hills and earthworks. Together, all of the sites and structures in the area formed a vast and impressive complex, constructed with a purpose. Located just south of the village of Avebury in Wiltshire is Silbury Hill, the tallest man-made prehistoric mound in Europe (approximately 130 feet high), with a base circumference of 1640 feet. It is composed of over 12 million cubic feet of chalk and earth and covers over 5 acres. There has never been an adequate theory devised concerning the purpose of the Avebury Circle or the Silbury Hill. Excavations designed at uncovering burial chambers in both were inconclusive. In 1991 researcher David S Percy made a remarkable discovery. With a superimposed map of Cydonia's eastern region over a large scale UK Ordnance Survey map of the Avebury/Silbury sites--at a ratio of approximately 14:1--Percy found the features of the Silbury plain and the features of Cydonia's eastern half were mirrors of each other. [811] Percy claims the Avebury Circle is a depiction of the Cydonia crater on Mars and that Silbury Hill corresponds with the Tholus or mound discovered by Richard Hoagland south of the Cydonia crater. Percy also noticed that a small mark on the Ordnance map of Avebury Circle rim matched the location on Cydonia where a tetrahedral pyramid appears to be constructed. The mark was located above a gap in the Avebury Circle, in the same way the Mars pyramid is above a gap in the Cydonia crater. Significantly it was the only mound indicated on the Avebury circle by the Ordnance map. The Tholus or mound feature discovered on Cydonia Mars rises 500 feet above the planet surface. Around it is a peripheral groove or [812] ditch. There are many examples of ancient mound structures found all around the earth. The most common of them are designed exactly like an anomalous feature found in the images taken of a region on the planet Mars called Cydonia. A seemingly artificial structure that has been designated "the Tholus" of Cydonia appears to be built to the exact instructions God gave to Moses while on Mount Sinai. The intelligent beings who constructed Tholus mound on Mars were familiar with God's "building code" that would be set down in the Bible, indicating that their identity could also most likely be found in the Bible. The giant mound on Mars is made of the soil of the planet, and the appearance of a ditch surrounding it provides a symbolic container for the waters of the sky. The altar of Cydonia, like the altar of Gad and Reuben, was built as a witness to future generations, causing God's name to be remembered. It is also a demonstration of God's power over time and space. It is a gnomon for the fixing of eons. It explains not only the time of the previous alignment of the Milky Way on the horizon of the earth, but the set time for the next rebirth of the aion. The evocative symbolic "mound of Mars" found in the appropriately named area of the planet called Cydonia would be astounding enough on its own. However, there appear to be more recognizable symbols of the mystery schools on that planet, a complex of "mounds of Mars" and a giant Pentagon shaped Puramos, called the D & M Pyramid. If the location of the monuments of Avebury and Giza are charted on a map, and a line is drawn from Avebury to Giza, west on Giza's latitude to the Prime Meridian and north back to Avebury, a giant Pythagorean triangle is created. The Pythagorean triangle or Euclid's triangle is a 3-4-5 right triangle. The Egyptians used the 3-4-5 right triangle to represent the union of their three gods, Isis, Osiris and Horus. The 14 to 1 ratio of Cydonia to Avebury echoes the number of the missing 14 part of Osiris's scattered th body. It is remarkable to find a representation of the eastern half of Cydonia located precisely in the place [813] where the ancients fixed heaven symbolically to the earth at the apex of the Pythagorean triangle. Encoded into the layout of Cydonia are an incredible number of messages that are "earthly" in their designation--they can be intended for no other planet. In 1988 a cartographer named Erol Torun discovered that the Pentagonal Pyramid and the Sphinx- face were situated exactly 1/360th the distance of the polar diameter of Mars from each other. This encoded number--360--represents the foundation for which the rest of the geometry of Cydonia is interpreted. The simplest way to explain why a circle should be divided into 360 points or degrees is based on the number of earth days in a year. Though the actual solar year of earth is 365 days five hours 48 minutes, a 365-degree system does not fit evenly into the [814] very ancient arrangement of the signs of the 12 constellations of the Zodiac. The D&M pyramid presents perhaps the greatest challenge to those scientists who argue against the prospect of artificiality of the Cydonia monuments. DiPietro and Molenaar considered a wide range of geological and meteorological phenomena for the possible formation of such an object and concluded that none was sufficient. Clearly no researcher has been able to explain how a mountain could "naturally" attain 5 sides of equal length, with 5 corners of 108 degrees. It becomes more and more difficult to ignore the possibility that the monuments of Cydonia are artificial given the compounding evidence inherent in their geometry and relationship to each other. The D&M pyramid of Mars, the largest artificial structure in the solar system, is the key to the message of Cydonia. In ancient Egypt the hieroglyph for the star Sirius was a pentagon--the symbol of the star that has been used to anchor heaven on the earth. This icon is painted on the walls of the famous [815] Temple of Isis / Hathor at Denderah, representing both the star and the deity Isis. The D&M Pentagon directs mankind's attention to the Sirius meridian anchor on earth. The Romans--who considered themselves Martians--had a word for greatness, used in connection with their earthly rulers whom they considered ordained from heaven by Mars. MAXIMUS referred to greatness sanctioned by Mars. The root of this word max was borrowed from the Etruscans, the ancient [816] ancestors of the Romans, originally meaning the number "five." The greatest festival celebrated by the Romans for their god Mars was called the Quinquatras, a five-day festival that took place in March, the first month of their calendar. This five-day festival commenced on the 19 day of the New Year th [817] celebrations of Mars, and ended on the 25 with the Hilaria, or the "Festival of Joy." th The arrangement of dates for the festivals of Mars produces two of the most significant numbers found in the geometric layout of the monuments of Cydonia, the number 5 and, in the case of the Quinquatras, the special code number discovered by Richard Hoagland, 19.5. 19.5 is a number associated with the pairing of two geometric figures, the sphere and the tetrahedron, or 4 sided pyramid. Imagine a tetrahedron placed inside the earth, so that one of its 4 points touched either pole, the other 3 points would touch the inner sphere at 19.47 degrees latitude opposite the pole. This configuration is a universal mathematical constant. The discovery of the number 19.5 on Mars, described in R.C. Hoagland's book, The Monuments of Mars, produced a base from which investigation of the artificiality of the structures on Cydonia was able to credibly proceed. This number is recorded in [818] the angle between the D&M Pyramid, the city complex of pyramids, and the Martian Sphinx- face. Symbolically the relationship of a tetrahedron within a sphere suggests the intersection of two dissimilar aspects. It is a profound mathematical way of depicting "duality" and "unity." 19.5 is uniquely a number symbolizing the point at which one paradigm connects with another--similar to the gateway of the duat at the mouth of the Ouroboros, guarded by the Cydonian Sagittarius--a portal to another dimension. Ancient earth mounds found all over the world are designed along the specifications of God for altars found in Exodus 20:24-26. These mounds also symbolize the Northern Hemisphere of earth rising from the celestial sea of the Milkyway at the beginning and the end of an Aion. Cross views of mound types found in Great Britain.
